Yup. I agree with you Catherine.
This is the half-million-view video she means (and the one I’ve been basing off of):
I’m not linking it because although it seems very savvy and bright, it is in fact insanely off, and possibly harmful.
Deeper into the comments you can start to see how:
I’ve ripped it up and started over, beginning with the Recommended Daily Allowances for sodium, potassium, and magnesium.
I won’t post my exact recipe yet because I’m waiting for a better magnesium to arrive …
And the idea that there’s even such a thing as better or worse magnesiums is where the warning signs started flashing.
In general: I think we want a mix that is more than 50% potassium, less than 50% sodium, and with only a dusting of magnesium per glass, except for a larger dose of it alone in the evening.
I mixed a small batch that new way and downed two glasses in a row.
I had a definite reaction, mental and physical. I felt lightheaded, but it didn’t seem like a bad kind of lightheaded. And I got some tingling in my fingers, although it wasn’t awful either, and it didn’t last. It all felt vaguely therapeutic.
My point is: We know damn near nothing.
It’s true politically, and philosophically, and medically, and even ‘scientifically’.
We should, and used to, be able to get all the needed damn magnesium (et cetera) and the right kinds of it, by going down to the river to drink, and from what we ate.
But now our water is unnatural, and our soil is depleted even when it’s not poisonous.
We definitely don’t get enough of any of it by staying ‘hydrated’ and by eating, even if we eat really really well (and agree on what that even means).
People say: Orange Man Bad and his little batshit Kari too.
People say: Beans, honey, chicken livers are healthy; balance is the key; everything in moderation …
Including BPA plastic? Including arsenic? Alcohol? What does moderation mean?
People say: I heard it from Weight Watchers, I heard it on the news, I heard it from my mother. I’m going keto, I’m going vegan, I’m going carnivore because because because. I’m getting vaxxed, I’m getting boosted, I quit getting boosted, I got long covid and I think it was from the vaccination itself.
All of it is making shit up, in a more or less educated way. The doctors on the ‘tubes vary wildly about whether mag citrate is better than mag glycinate, or whether the fact that mag thresonate is the only kind capable of jumping the blood-brain barrier means anything at all in terms of Alzheimer’s and general cognitive function.
The educated theories don’t agree and the uneducated theories of the kind from Mary’s Kitchen are measurably worse.
Multiply that cloud of unknowing by a thousand and spread it across the sky of your daily life.
We know … that shit. That life … of modernity. All too well.
I say: We made a wrong turn at the end of the Paleolithic and there’s nowhere to turn around.
I might be right. Kari Lake might be a heroine. War Karen might be the Messiah, or the Antichrist, or anything in between.
I’ll tell you what I think. I’ll abide in your silence.
That feels like a choice.
Is it?
