Argentic

For purposes of emails about getting and spending money, I’ve had one for a long time with the username:

argent

It’s a word that means ‘silvery-white’, but of course in my poetics, Silver means something else that is very important, besides money.

I wanted to transfer to a new mail provider, and argent was taken there. So was every variation I could think of. So I went to what we might call Scrabble sites, trying to figure out what else I could do that was built around ‘gen’, and was silvery.

One of the first things I found was a different rare but real word:

margent
noun
1. An outline, edge, or border of something; a river bank; = “margin”

It can also mean scribbles in the margin of the page.

This is even better. It’s argent and then some; La Frontera.

Good news.

The bad news was that margent@myNewMailProvider.com was taken too …

But the good part II was that I was able to find an untaken variation that satisfied me.

The main reason I was doing this today was to facilitate something much more important than an email address. So I can now proceed with … that.

In the meantime, the toilet clogged and none of the quick fixes have done anything. It’s bad, and inexplicable, because I always treat old plumbing very gently and only put actual bodily waste down the damn thing. Not even TP. And I keep it closed pretty dependably so nothing falls in, but mainly because I don’t want pisswater cat kisses.

It’s pretty hard to figure.

So I guess I’ll be studying the nuances of muriatic acid and the like pretty quick here.

Late update: A big pot of boiling water disappears down the hole almost immediately, but a subsequent regular flush is slow as ever. So that’s extra weird.

The underdog Texans and their good likable QB lost to the Ravens. The Niners did their best to lose but won; the faithful are praising Saint Greenlaw who picked Love twice to be the savior.

The rain is starting on schedule as predicted tonight and the next three days are supposed to be gray, though not frigid.

Mixed blessings at every hand.
