Yesterday was IP Day

As in Indigenous People’s, or ‘Columbus Day’ if you’re less woke.

As often happens it occurred on a Monday or close to one, which was also the day I taught up on the Rez. So it was a de facto holiday for me, even though I didn’t have it off, because almost none of my students showed up, preferring to go to anti-Columbian festivities instead of coming to class.

I had planned to post on the subject more generally but life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.

Instead I’ll tell you about Vic Mignogna.

From what I can tell, this is a man who is a natural actor, director, musician, and all around artist, but who never caught a break in the La-la California machine, and never let it stop him.

An Ed Wood with his head held high. An Ed Norton or James Franco without the star power.

I don’t know how he makes his money really, so it’s hard to just put him on the list of role models. But I’m granting him provisional status there anyway.

Here’s an example of his work.
