Putting the tldr; here at the top …

1) Yes, our web site says our basic plan is $5 a month, and it has said that for months, but secretly it is now THREE TIMES as much, oh well.

2) The exact same page says paying yearly gets a 25% discount across the board, but secretly that does not apply to your basic peasant plan.

3) Various vague verbiage suggests there is a ten, or twentyfive percent discount on a second store opened under the same account, but–guess what? Yep, secretly, peasant plan gets you nothing and you’re going to be paying twice as much for the privilege of having two digital storefronts if that’s what you want.

In any humane and natural system, this would naturally be considered fraudulent. ‘False advertising’ at the very least. Am I going to hire a lawyer and try to obtain legal proof of that? No. I am not. I am not a savvy capitalist. I am a peasant neo-merchant with virulent anticapitalist sentiments that have evolved from exactly these kinds of ubiquitous and iniquitous games being played on me my whole effin’ life! Yeah!!

The full transcript, lightly edited to protect the guilty, follows.

01:10 Help Center Assistant: You’re in line to chat with a Support Advisor! I’m still here with you to chat until you get connected.
01:14 System: An advisor has joined the chat

01:14 User Connection Message: User has connected

01:14 (Support Advisor): Hi, this is NameRedacted, your Support Advisor!

01:14 Me: Heya!

01:15 Agent (Support Advisor): Hello, I hope you are doing well 🙂 I see that you have query about Pricing plans. I’d be glad to look into this matter further and let’s work on this together!

01:15 Me: Alrighty, sounds good.

01:15 Me: … your pricing page says the Starter plan is $5 a month. But my own plan page says I’ll be paying $15 when my intro discount ends.

01:19 Me: Can’t quite understand the disparity. This is the first of three basic questions.

01:20 Agent (Support Advisor): Upon further investigating you are already on your third month of $1 plan. You’ll be billed $1 subscription plan this end of January

01:20 Agent (Support Advisor): And then, your Starter plan will start on Feb 25 which cost $15.

01:21 Me: Okay. Fair enough, but why does your page at “mystore”.com/pricing say that Starter is $5 a month?

01:22 Agent (Support Advisor): The website is not yet updated until now, I see that updating website seems to take longer than usual. But I’m sending you here now the updated pricing plans

(“Not updated” … this is what they tell the poor drones to say. Agent sends me a link to some page at nerdwallet.com, a completely unrelated site, which DOES have the ‘updated’ plans, while somehow this company’s own site does not, and is supposedly months behind in showing the new, three-times-as-much pricing.)

01:24 Agent (Support Advisor): You may also check this updated plans on your Settings > Plans. When you wanted to choose a regular plan by then. You’ll be able to check the updated price before checkout.

01:24 Me: Hmmm. Okay, let’s leave desperately belated updates to that very basic page alone for now … the same pricing page says there’s a 25% discount for paying yearly, but if i start to change to yearly, your page says that it’s $180, or $15 for 12 months.

01:25 Me: That too seems … contradictory.

01:25 Agent (Support Advisor): May I please request a screenshot of the pricing plans you’re seeing on your end? Or is that from the /pricing still?

01:26 Agent (Support Advisor): I’m going to check on it now.

01:26 Agent (Support Advisor): This is the page correct?

(I send a barrage of screenshots as requested … )

01:28 Agent (Support Advisor): Yes, that’s correct. I saw the Starter plan cost $5 from there

01:28 Agent (Support Advisor): The pricing was already been updated, but not on the website

01:29 Me: Okay. Once more, not updating it for months is odd, but let’s leave that aside for now …

01:30 Agent (Support Advisor): Yes, thank you

01:31 Me: What about lower on the same page where you claim 25% off if i pay yearly?

01:40 Agent (Support Advisor): Actually, what we’ve checked here is that 25% discounts usually only apply to our Standard plans like the Basic and Advanced. (She means: everything but your Starter plan, bud.)

01:41 Me: ~shaking my head just a little~ Okay, well, when those lazy website updater guys get back from break, you might want to clarify that one too ….. ; )

01:42 Me: But again, let’s leave that marked down as “Very clear but highly unsatisfying answers”, because i do have one more question …

01:43 Me: Which is: If I want to open a second store, is there any volume discount available. for that? Or do i just have to pay another $15+ a month for that second store.

01:45 Agent (Support Advisor): Yes, I understand where you’re coming from and I just want to inform you that “companyNameRedacted is constantly testing our plans and offerings to ensure we’re able to provide the right value for our merchants and business. As a result, our plan pricing and availability may vary from time to time to understand what works best for our customers and ensure we can continue offering high-quality features and support.”

01:45 Me: Thanks for the legal CYA verbiage. Much obliged … ~smiles~

01:46 Agent (Support Advisor): If you’re going to create a second store, that is as good as new. By then, you have an option to get another $1 for 3 months and then start with getting regular plans afetrwards

01:46 Me: Okay. No discount for two. Got it.

01:47 Me: Thank you very much for your timely support. You’ve done well. I didn’t like your answers one little bit, but that’s not your fault as tech support.

01:47 Agent (Support Advisor): That 25% discount can be applied for everyone, as long as you are getting the Standard plans in yearly basis.

01:48 Me: Alright then. Thanks again. Be well.

01:49 Agent (Support Advisor): Thank you so much, I really appreciate your understand and patience towards this. Rest assures that your feedback about our website are truly helpful. I will definitely let our Developers know about this

01:49 Agent (Support Advisor): Thank you! 🙂 Have a wonderful day and Keep safe always.

01:49 System: Chat ended by advisor
