Nothing but No Net

Eventually I found out that the connection was down due to a ‘major fiber cut’. So I went out and re-laid the shed foundation productively. There’s almost nothing else to tell.

It came back on right at dark conveniently and I got caught on podcastery. Actually that had been happening all day, because I could listen to downloads with no connection, and my wireless headphones work outside. I learned a couple of things.

One was that there are plenty of young smart people out there that look at the dismal social landscape with an even more radical view than mine most days. TrueAnon and Chapo Trap House openly mock the idea that the Dem Party can be salvaged for any good at all, and anyone who stoops so low as to vote for Biden. I can’t really say I blame them, or even particularly disagree.

Then I listened to a new ep of Useful Idiots, and the guest was Thomas Frank, who I have heard praised across the leftish spectrum for his books, most particularly one called Listen Liberal. The interview was really good. Also: I realized that I’d been confusing him, for months maybe years, with Thom Hartmann, who isn’t nearly as revolutionary. Mistake corrected, and to my edification.

Tomorrow I’ll get out the saw and finish the flooring for the shiny new outbuilding, and maybe even begin construction on it proper.
