Updated Draft: Personhood

There’s a small irony attached to the title of this post. After I drafted it as a placeholder with that title, I heard an interesting story on that subject.

The point of which was, the Empire has decided to give personhood rights to corporations, out of all the things they could have picked.

Little Bangladesh, though, where things are far worse by many metrics, decided to grant personhood to … their rivers.

That makes a lot more sense to me.

The original point I was aiming for was different, and related to the subtly seismic shifting of the story I need to tell.

It goes like this.

I refuse to be constrained any longer by their idea, for example, of what race I am.
I refuse to be constrained any longer by their idea of what a man is supposed to be.

I refuse to be constrained any longer by their ideas.

I intend to grow into the person that only I can be, and to live it out loud.

The second part of that is harder and more problematic than the first, but also where the dynamism and seismicity lives.
