Unanimous Chill

A Friday of run succeeded by a Sat of nothing, so very much sleep and quiet in the cold, except for an hour around four in the afternoon to let the air through, it being the same outside as in.

At bottom it dropped to the high thirties under a sliver of moon, but it’s on the mend they say; low of 43 and then back up to 67 on the day of sun.

In the rough wakings there were some developments in privacy. One, the VPN service I use got bought up by sketchy overlords. But the bill comes due in January so it’s probably a good time to jump ship anyway and run off to something better.

Also, Riot Matrix Disroot Freenode, finally got that whole thing working in the haze; it’s not important.

On the Linux podcast they note with justified outrage that Google is now taking all of everyone’s medical data and slapping it into a database of their own, unironically called Project Nightingale.

Horrifying of course. But honestly, their outrage is standard useless vaguely liberal mainstream democratic party ‘open-source’ whimpering–they specifically advised ‘writing your politicians’ as the cure, even though none of the four hosts said they had done so themselves. 99% of the politicians are all bought, by Google and the other corporate overlords, and 89% of the people know that. There’s no point in letter-writing under those circumstances. Change in this arena and many others will only come when the oligarchies are taken apart, the monopolies busted, the wealth redistributed through just taxation. Only when the rotten tissue is removed can healing begin.

This is why there’s almost no point in rallying around anybody but Sanders (and maybe Warren, though I believe her less still). Even Tio Bernie is less radical than I’d like, but he’s right about most of the things, most of the time, and all the others are picking scabs around the margin at best.

The almost frozen truth.
